The Devil’s Panties
There aren’t many comics (that I read) that are a slice of life. Something like Misfile might come close, I suppose, but more often than not I’m into the more surreal fantasies. I suppose that’s why I like The Devil’s Panties. It takes a twisty and surreal look into the life of a young lady writing a web-comic. Despite the surreal elements to this (like Jesus Christ and the Devil regularly chatting with Jennie, often the comic seems like this is just a slice of the real Jennie’s life.
So you have little things, like Wednesday’s comic where Jennie finds her dress has “mysteriously shrunken” (hey, girls sometimes gain an inch or two for no apparent reason. Hey, guys do too, I know sometimes the pants seem tighter than they should even if I’ve not eaten anything the day before) and has to go out and ask her boyfriend (who’s in the middle of a LAN Party) to zip her up.
And of course we have multiple road trips! I swear, if the real Jennie goes to as many conventions as her on-line counterpart, I don’t know how this girl has time to live! Of course, considering her life also takes time to chat with Jesus and the Devil on a recurring occasion (almost shades of God, the Devil, and Bob, except Jennie is more with it (and much cuter!) than Bob ever was), I suppose she gets some extra time granted from up above.
Well, I don’t know what else I can really say except it’s well worth reading. So enjoy!
