Scary Go Round
Scary Go Round is… odd. And I hope, by now, you realize that when I state something is “odd” then I’m probably understating the fact.
Scary Go Round is sort of a sequel to the Keenspot comic Bobbins. You don’t really need to read Bobbins (which lasted 5 years) to jump into SGR, but it doesn’t hurt. (For one thing, Bobbins was rather amusing, if surreal. Then again, SGR is even weirder than Bobbins so…)
I’m not exactly sure what to say about this comic. I mean, it’s killed a main character, brought her back to life as a zombie (that tried to stave off her brain-cravings with cauliflower) and then… well, why spoil the surprise?
Anyway, recently John Allison has been having fun poking fun at election politics. The previous mayor is a bit of a useless git (yes, I know, what else is new about politicians?), and the primary opposing candidate is of the Evil Party. I kid you not. And of course there are plenty of dirty dealings going on, and giant balloon effigies of the two primary candidates and other insanity. Leading to Election Day, with poor Shelley pondering who to vote for: her boss… or Tim, who helped avert tragedy from one of the balloons from impacting on an animal sanctuary.
Shelley really likes cute innocent animals. I kinda get the feeling Tim’s getting her vote. And if things are as crazy as they tend to be with SGR, either Tim’s going to win because of one vote… or her boss is going to lose to the Evil Party by one vote.
Either way, it is sure to be amusing enough, and make you wonder just what John Allison is adding to his morning coffee and where can we get some of it too?
