Nukees

It’s hard to believe it’s been two months since my last Nukees review, and here I am back once again. You see, two things happened in those sixty days since I commented that Nukees was losing me. First, the goth girl (Jez) started to grow on me (sort of like some sort of evil mold, except gothy and Christian). Second, King Luca hath returned, on his sturdy stee– er, on a forklift driven by Cecilia, to attack the vile robovermin that was threatening Gav and his busty companion.

Except of course, the robot ant had been shut down already, by Jez. And while Gav might have wanted for the ant to be shut down via his convoluted and likely unworkable plan, somehow it is fitting that this girl, who’s been a thorn in Gav’s side for months now, manages to find the simple solution to save the day. Until, of course, King Luca comes riding in on forklift to save the day. By the way, I did mention that Luca is back, and he is King Luca again, did I not? Or at the very least, he’s wearing a cape and brandishing a sword of some kind.

The comic needs its King. It just rings hollow without this embodiment of the comic’s soul. I mean, Gav might play a good game as the megalomaniacal mad-scientist type, but it’s like a Superego without its Id to balance it out (well, okay, there’s an ego that works to mediate the two, but an Id without a Superego is like a Hyde without a Jekyll). It’s lopsided and doesn’t work very well. While Jez may act as an effective foil for Gav (which surprises me as I kinda thought Rita was the goth gal who’d end up with Gav, if any of them did), there’s a certain magic sparked by Luca’s presence. A magic resparked by the return of the King. Hobbits need not apply.
