Podcast Interview of Tangents
For anyone who’s interested, I was the interviewed guest on the webcomic podcast Moonhawk Studio Presents, an amateur podcast that runs live on Wednesday evenings usually at 10 p.m. EST. The podcast went fairly well, outside of a brief loss-of-communication from the host early into the podcast (due to the loss of phone signal) and the host getting distracted from his line of questioning by having to keep podspammers from interrupting the interview at one point. Topics discussed include what inspired me to start writing reviews, comics I’m looking to review in the future, and my opinions on the print comic industry.
Unfortunately, one of the problems with the hosting program they use (TalkShoe) is that you need to have a membership in order to see specifics of each site in question, and to find the podcast’s archives. Fortunately, I’ve a direct link for the interview podcast, which runs around 70 minutes, and can be found at this link here (if you right-click the link, you can save it to your hard drive for ease of listening later). And fortunately, I don’t make a complete idiot of myself during the podcast (which is always a possibility with me).

Robert, if you don’t mind, I’m going to post the direct link to the show here. People SHOULD be able to listen to it without an account. There’s even a widget that allows you to listen like radio on my site. I wish I could troubleshoot the difficulties you and your friend had, but, oh well. thanks again for being on, and we hope to have your thoughts and insights again sometime. As always, our guests are welcome to come back weekly and participate in our “open mic rogue’s gallery”. :)

You just /had/ to mention, that you don’t like CRfH anymore, didn’t you? You ever notice how you do that a lot? Like in, a friggin huge lot? :P
No offence, Rob, but I’m starting to wonder who you want to convince with this ^^
Besides, while I layed it off for a year as well, by now I’m very happily reading it every month again. Just saying…
Trust me, if there was any one part I could remove, it would be that one line. I was struggling to think of a second example besides CotC, and CRfH (for all of my perceptions of its faults) has a large body of work which is quite useful to use as examples.
It’s sort of like War and Peace. There’s a huge body of work there, and it’s useful for research on subjects concerning literature of that time period and genre, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
The ironic thing is this: if I had never read CRfH before and started reading today, I’d probably enjoy it greatly. I would not be influenced by my memories of what worked in the past, and what elements were eliminated in order to pursue an epic storyline that I felt wasn’t as important. This is how I enjoy comics like GPF (though I’ve stopped reading that one until the current time-travel story ends) and Megatokyo, which other people have quit because the elements they loved so much have likewise ceased.
Hey Rob,
Just figured out why people couldn’t listen in: TalkShoe restricts access to folks wanting to listen to a podcast rated “EL” for “Explicit Language”. We reduced the rating to “PC” for “Parental Control” so now more of your readers can go check it out. Just FYI. :)
