It is likely premature to judge the story arc. OotS while sometimes a parody is also frequently a deconstruction and sometimes that means you of a trot out an standard story arc before you can turn it upside down. This story arc was foreshadowed waaaaaaay back at the very start of the comic when Nale and Elan first dueled so odds are there is a lot more to where this story is going then it appears. The individual pages have been interesting (even if I'm a little disapointed all the dragon kin and lizard folks are not freaking out on V yet for his recent pissing off of Tiamat) and the Empress of Blood's introduction was hilarious. These pages are just set up and set up is only as good as its pay off. OotS rarely goes where it appears to be headed at first, frequently the journy is more important then the destination in terms of moving the story and while OotS doesn't have a flawless track record it has a pretty good one, enough I feel to cut it some slack on a longish slow opening and trust it is setting up for some very fresh payoff cake.
