Misfile

Monday’s Misfile kind of struck home with me when I first read it, and stuck with me for much of the day. To be honest, I rather enjoyed seeing Rumisiel in the spotlight for a brief moment; far too often Ash and Em dominate that spotlight, resulting in Rumisiel getting far less development and fleshing out than he deserves. More interesting to me, however, was his revelation on working at the Celestial Filing Depository and his feeling weak and helpless while there. Rumisiel’s feelings of fear of screwing up, and of the growing indecision that paralyzed him and prevented him from doing anything is something I’m certain a number of readers can identify with, especially with the state of the economy these days. While Rumisiel does get brief moments in which he shines, often he seems almost a two-dimensional joke character. This is a shame, as he’s the important third leg of Misfile; hopefully Chris Hazelton will take time to further flesh out a character who has the potential to be as developed and interesting as the two teens whose lives he screwed up so long ago.
