Alice!

One of the first five webcomics I started reading was Michael McKay-Fleming’s surreal childhood comic Alice!, which focused on a most imaginative pre-teen girl (named Alice, naturally) and her more-down-to-earth best friend Dot as they go through various adventures… mostly as a product of Alice’s imagination, mind you, but still a most delightful trip non-the-less. Unfortunately, Alice! succumbed to that dread beast known as hiatus and at one point even the archives vanished from the web (though it was still possible to peruse them if you knew where to look). Fortunately, this has changed, as McKay-Fleming has restored the comic’s archives and resumed updates with a glimpse at Alice and Dot’s first time meeting, with Alice dragging Dot out of class (on Dot’s first day, no less) to skip out on school. While I must admit I’d love to see more of Alice’s later adventures as she starts to shift from being a child to a young woman, I’m overjoyed to see the comic updating once more. And it should be interesting watching this odd friendship grow from these first seeds into a bond as close as sisterhood. For those of you who’ve not read the Alice! archives, feel free to start from the very beginning… or just enjoy the newest strips with this new emergence from the winter of hiatus.

It looks like you missed the explanation that this isn’t new material, it’s a bonus story from an old printed volume.

Thank you for the nice tribute. I’m glad you like Alice! There will be brand new Alice comics in the fall sometime.

Sadly I did miss that. However, when I looked on the site it mentioned something about a “wedding” and I didn’t see it state it was from the printed volume… and he’s set up a Facebook page as well. So it seems quite possible he’s going to restart normal updates as well.
