I’d like to give a quick congratulations to Isabelle Melançon and Megan Lavey-Heaton, whose contemporary fantasy webcomic Namesake turned two on October 5. In that time, Melançon and Lavey-Heaton have not only crafted a delightful and imaginative version of Frank Baum’s Land of Oz, they’ve also managed to nearly wrap up this story while setting the stage for the next Namesake storyline… and the greater threat both to Oz and to Emma’s own world. I look forward to seeing what they have planned next.
Also, Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! Though I must admit I’m a touch disturbed by Alina Pete’s depiction of Canadian Thanksgiving preparations in her comic Weregeeks… I’m not sure which is scarier. Poutine stuffing… or pouring maple syrup all over an uncooked turkey before putting it in the oven.
