Widdershins is an interesting contemporary fantasy set in England in the 1830s. The webcomic is actually a series of short story comics set in the town of Widdernshins, with two stories currently finished; the first was about Sidney Malik, a young wizard who has a rogue magical talent… literally, in that his magic likes to steal other people’s belongings while he doesn’t have much interest in larceny (being a rather polite and decent chap) who ends up working with Harry Barber, a hunter of magical artefacts, to track down a magical treasure while trying to avoid the former King of Thieves (whose badge of office got nicked by Malik’s talent). The second story is tangentially related to the first in that we’re briefly introduced to the protagonist, Jack O’Malley, in the first story; his story and his comrades focuses on their efforts to track down what’s causing a large number of miscast conjurations that have grown to plague Widdershins. Each story seems to be self-contained, and I don’t know if we’ll be returning to any of the characters once their tale has ended. That said, the stories are well crafted and enjoyable, and the self-contained nature of the tales allows readers to jump in without having to read through extensive archives.
